Selection Method of Cationic Polyacrylamide

1. Sampling sludge samples to be pressed: Select representative sludge samples and take samples before the on-site dosing point. After taking the samples, the experiment should be carried out as soon as possible (the properties of the sludge may change after being left for a period of time). Polyacrylamide samples: Prepare multiple polyacrylamide samples with different ionic degrees.

2. Experiment preparation: 250ml beaker, 250ml measuring cylinder, plastic dropper, 90mm auxiliary funnel, stopwatch.

3. Experimental process: Determine the dosage of multiple PAM models by pouring two beakers into each other: add 1ml of 0.1% pam solution to 200ml of sludge, pour it into the beaker 3-4 times, and see if the sludge is It has a good flocculation effect (floccules with a diameter of 2-3cm appear). If it does not appear, continue to add PAM solution until the sludge has a good flocculation effect, and record the dosage.

4. Evaluation method: Evaluation can be carried out through the following three indicators

  • 1.  First compare the dosage. The smaller the dosage, the better the match between PAM and sludge properties.
  • 2. Clarity of the supernatant. The clearer the supernatant, the better the match between PAM and sludge properties.
  • 3. The amount of filtrate after filtration. If the above two points cannot be judged, compare the amount of supernatant filtered out of multiple beakers at the same time (during filtration, solid-liquid stratification in the beaker should be prevented, and a glass cup can be used to stir gently. (see below), the more filtrate there is, the better the match between this model of PAM and the sludge.
